Potential employer contacting current employer when you mark on application "do not"

What is the name of your state? Washington

What, if any, repercussions are there if after checking "NO" on an application in regards to contacting your current employer they do anyway?

Thanks.

Other than holding your breath and requesting an apology, there aren't any.

A prospective employer has the legal right to check any and all references. Your checking off "no" on the application form does not hold any legal water. It is rude and unprofessional of them to do so after you have requested them not to, but there are no legal repercussions since they have not violated any laws, only courtesy.
