What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kentucky

What is a former employer allowed to say to a potential new employer regarding your employment history? I was told by a potential employer that a previous employer had put me in a "bad light". I have been told past employers are only allowed to say dates you worked there.

You were told incorrectly. Although a very widespread myth, it is a myth nonetheless.

Employers are allowed to say anything they want as long as it is true or their honest and supportable opinion, and is not deliberately misleading. In no state does the law limit employers to dates of employment.
