I live in california. my friend works for a video game store. he has recently been harried by the district manager about meeting a "district level" sales quota. first, can my friend be written up and subsequently fired for failure to meet a quota that isn't published in the employee guidlines?

second, he used to be the assistant manager, but he was forced to take a demotion and pay cut. if he didn't accept the terms, the district manager threatened to micromanage him and eventually fire him. has this district manager made any legal mistakes?

thanks
