I have $5000.00 in stale checks from sept.98-oct. 99. The business was closed down by a judge, and the owner said he wouldn't and couldn't reissue them. He offered a personal check of $500, but then cancelled it because a government official called him and asked him to pay the whole thing by my mother's request. A lawyer told me about labor law 198. What can I do? What is Labor Law 198 and should I just go to small claims since I can't find a lawyer to take the case? Thanks.
