What is the name of your state?I live in Iowa, I was recently working as a subcontractor for framing houses.
The contractor will not pay me for the work completed. There was no contract signed between us. He has pad me for all work up till I gave noticed I was quitting. The last house I built took four weeks to complete and he will not pay me for that job. Do I have any recourse?

Did he hire you as an employee or as an independent contractor? Were income and payroll taxes withheld from your previous checks?

If an employee, you can file a claim for unpaid wages with the Iowa Workforce Commission. See the attached link for a form and instructions:

If you were brought on as an independent contractor, you should have had some type of agreement. In this case, you will probably have to sue him.
