At this point I doubt it will make a difference whether you resign or are fired. Calling in sick would be a pretty cowardly thing to do.

It is better to be terminated than to resign. If you resign, you will have a much less chance of getting unemployment ins. You normally don't get UI benefits is you quit/resign from a job. Whether you get them for being terminated, depends on the reason for your termination.

If you are terminated (or resign), Az. employers who have a policy or practice of paying employees for vacation and/or sick days upon separation of employment must treat the days as wages.
