You sound like a supervisor, and if you need to hear the tape then you have serious memory problems! I think if this person taped you it was for a reason. What is the investigation about? Why is that particular person being investigated? What action have you taken so far and was it fair?
All you need to do is look back on your conscience, whatever someone in an authoritative role would have left.
