What is the name of your state? Ohio
I would like to know what the law states in regard to falsifying/altering a document. Is it a criminal offense if you did not defraud anyone out of anything? I would like to know how the law reads for this. I am in Ohio. Thanks.

That would depend in part on the type of document you're talking about. Care to be more specific?

I posted a thread, "terminated" to which you replied previously. I altered my doctor's release by omitting that I was released for a "sit down" job only. I simply needed to go back to work. I did not defraud anyone out of anything. However, part of my companies basis for firing me, other than what I did was wrong and a firing offense, is that they said their attorney advised them this was a class D felony, hence, a criminal offense. I am going before the Board tomorrow to request reinstatement and if I inform them that this in fact is not a criminal offense, then I would like to know "what I'm talking about" so to speak.

It's possible that altering a statement from a physician may be a criminal offense. I suggest you post your question on the "Other Crimes" board at this site, as this is out of the realm of employment law.
