terminating my contract with relocation package

What is the name of your state? Texas

Good Morning Jaime,

My name is Ernesto Suarez. I have a question for you hopefully you will give me a hand with this.

I signed an employment offer here in Houston that included a move from Calgary Canada. I accepted and the company gave me a relocation package that includes reasonable expenses in connection with the moving as meal expenses, air transportation for me and my family, accomodation for 60 days as well a bonus of 5000 dollars.

After a month and a half working here in Houston, I have decide to leave voluntarily the Company because it does not fit my expectations and other personal and family concerns.

There is a paragraph in the job relocation package that says:

In the event that you voluntarily leave the company within 24 months from your actual relocation is complete, the company reserves the right to be reimbursed all costs associated with move.

My question is how is going this to be for me a demand from the company or an order to pay right away? Also I want to propose work from the Company office in Calgary as way to reimburse the company the cost I have associated with the move.

What legal ways do I have? The only true thing is that I want to leave right away from here.

Thanks a lot for your help and advice.

Best Regards,

Ernesto Suarez

My question is how is going this to be for me a demand from the company or an order to pay right away? Huh? If you're asking how your employer is going to require repayment, such as an immediate lump sum from you, nobody here can possibly answer that.

Perhaps these are questions you should have asked BEFORE you quit....
