What is the name of your state? NY
a friend who was a manager of a store was terminated due to losing a bank deposit. She notified her immediate supervisor of this when it happened about 4 months ago. The supervisor told her to repay the money when she could. There was a robbery at the stores location and the money had not been repaid, the supervisor fired her. She then received a call from the district manager to go to his location to talk to her. He accused her of stealing the money and told her she has to pay the money back within 12 days or he do an investigation her. Is this legal for him to investigate her and to demand payment within 12 days? Also is she entitled to vacation pay that is due to her? Thanks

It's not illegal to terminate her because she lost a bank deposit or because they suspect she stole it. Yes, it's legal for them to investigate her and to request she repay the money. She does not have to comply with the request and it would be illegal for them to withhold the missing funds from her paycheck.

In New York, final wages include vacation pay unless there is a written company policy to the contrary.
