What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? For Employer Based in KY.
I am currently working on a project in CA, and would like to resign and move to my home state Florida.
I was going through the Termination clause in the employment agreement and wasn't sure about the terms.
Below is the extract -

"3. Termination: You are employed by XYZtech on an at-will basis. You agree, however, to provide XYZtech with at least two weeks advance
written notice of your intent to terminate your employment or, in lieu thereof, the payment of two weeks’ salary. Point 3 a holds good for 1 year of service apart from two weeks salary that needs to be paid. Also if XYZtechh wants to terminate your employment than XYZtech has to give you 2 weeks of notice period or, in Lieu thereof, the payment of two weeks’ salary.
(a) We would like you to be great employee for us and would like you to accept to work with XYZtech for at least one year."

Does the above mean that if I resign before 1 year completion of my employment, I will have to pay 2 weeks salary along with a 2 weeks notice? Which basically means work 2 weeks for free?

Thanks in advance for your help!! I really appreciate it.

Under no circumstances will I attempt to interpret a document when I can only see a part of it, since there could be language in the part I can't see that modifies the part I can. Take the ENTIRE agreement to a local attorney for review.

Thanks for the reply, I went through the employment agreement and there are nothing else regarding the termination clause. I will appreciate if the above is clarified to me.

Then do as cbg suggests. Her human resources experience is far more extensive than nearly every other senior member. In this regard, I'd take her advice as gospel.

Please read my post again, particularly the part that says, Under No Circumstances.

I am also not in your state. You need someone who is, to review the document.
