What is the name of your state? Florida

My CEO informed that I was being laid off due to lack of business in the Tampa area. This happened on Dec 8th. During the conversation he mentioned that I would get a week's pay as severance. This should mean my pay for the 1st week of december+the severance, correct...? He is denying that the company owes me for the 1st week of December. Is there anything I can do about this...?

did you get one of the two checks mentioned? what does the stub say?

if that is the severence check then yes you are entitled to be paid for the time you worked.
