What is the name of your state? California

Can you fire an employee for aiding in a possible litigation that will harm you and your business?

We have two employees who wrote statements about thier opinions regarding another employee's work situation. That employee's work situation does not involve anything illegal.

These two employees did not tell us (owners) about the letters they wrote, and one lied when asked about it. We are interested in terminating both, but we want to make sure about it first. Can anyone shed some light on the subject?
Thank you
Angela

This is a question that we cannot answer without additional info, and info that it might not be wise for you to post. That being the case, you would be wise to consult with a local attorney who can have access to all the details without fear of harming your own position by public disclosure.
