Contract

I have a 12 month written contract with a private college in Georgia. Without financial exegency or any job related cause, can this contract be terminated before its expiration.

The contract has no termination clauses except a time limit, 12 months.
The employee handbook states that administrator contract termination will follow the terms and conditions of the contract.

There are an incredible number of ways that a contract can be voided or terminated (for example, there can be a 'morals clause').

It all depends on how the contract is written. It can be very broad-based.... "This contract can be terminated by either party for any reason, exclusive of the following..." and then list some very specific conditions. This would allow termination for ANY violation not listed.

Or it could be narrow-based... "This contract can be terminated by either party for only the following reasons...", and listing ONLY the allowed reasons, excluding ALL others.

So, in literal answer to your question ("can this contract be terminated before its expiration"), the answer is clearly YES. Read the contract to see what terminations are allowed, and more importantly what is NOT allowed.
