I am in NC. I am considering a prospective employee that has good references. However, his former boss works for me now and will be supervised by this new employee. The former boss is trying to tell me some unflattering information regarding this prospective employee, but I will not allow him for fear of violating any confidentiality laws. Is there any statutes that govern this?
