A new principal has given me my first negative evaluation in the 12 years I have been there. As part of an improvement plan she wants me to video tape my self teaching 2 classes, showing specific criteria she has listed. I am to turn the tapes over to her. Is this not a violation of my civil rights or constitutional rights, because she could then use the tapes in any procedure to fire me if she does not feel I met the criteria. Would this not be a form of sel-incrimination although there is no criminal act?

No. This is not a violation of civil rights, constitutional rights, or any rights at all. She is perfectly within her rights for firing you if she does not feel you meet the criteria.

No.

There is nothing even remotely illegal, unconstitutional or unreasonable about what she is asking you to do. Rather, it is a perfectly legitimate request which is used by many teachers in many schools as a matter of course.
