What is the name of your state? Michigan
I quit my job of 17 years last November because my husband was transferred to Florida. Am I entitled to unemployment benifits even though I was not fired?

That will be up to the state to decide, but chances are that you won't, because you left voluntarily to move to another state

I can't believe this....

you left willingly so I will bet "no way" will you get it.

Why should the employer's UC rates go up because YOU made the decision you did.

kimberleanne, you are free to appeal the decision but I agree with mlane that it will almost certainly be a waste of time. Only a very few states acknowledge quitting to follow a relocating spouse as a qualifying reason for UI. If you have already been denied benefits, then it's about 100% sure your state is not one of them and thus the chances of your prevailing on appeal are slim to none. If your state is one of the few to recognize this as a qualifying reason, then it's unlikely you would be denied in the first place. This is a pretty cut and dried issue and not one that's subject to opinion or supposition; either your state allows this reason or it doesn't.
