In Michigan my brother was ready to leave for vacation and was told by his boss at the last minute he could not go because he was not aware of the vacation. The vacation request was submitted in the Spring and vacation pay had been included in the most recent paycheck. His boss told my brother he needed to go out of town on business instead and if he did not go, he would be fired. The Compensation Manual states vacation time must be taken or it is lost at the end of the year and there is no monetary reimbursement for time not taken. Yet scheduled vacations are cancelled. Is there any legal recourse to this situation?
