I was recently laidoff as a full-time associate and rehired as an independent contractor from a private software training company in Montgomery County, MD. I had been there just over 2 years. I had 5.5 days of earned but unused vacation time. According to the online (not printed) employee handbook that if an employee leaves the company at their decision or the company's the unused vacation is forfieted.

Is this legal in Maryland?

If not, is there a particular type of legal entity I should consider to fight this?
