Here's a story in short, and wanted to find out if there are any legal remedies. This takes place in a school district.

Day 1: Administration places call to current employer as reference. Then calls candidate afterwards to say that HR would call the next day to extend an offer.

Day 2: HR calls at 5pm and extends an offer. Candidate asks a few questions, including one that requires some minor research on HR's part. HR doesn't return that info. Candidate also asked for a couple days to consider.

Day 3: Candidate calls Administration (Principal) to indicate they would accept position the next day with HR. Agreed upon start date, training, etc.

Day 4: Called HR to accept after attending a presentation for education and was told that the offer was rescinded and given to someone else because the candidate didn't seem interested.

Is there any recourse to this? There was no written offer, but the Principal and HR were aware of the offer and intent to accept.
