What is the name of your state? Texass

My friend was terminated this past Friday. She may have shared some things with others, she probably shouldn't have, but the company has some wierd practices. Anyway, to make a long story short, she was called into the office on Friday because she told people he was going to let people go and that when hiring the new receptionist, she was told to not look at anyone with african american decent (nothing to prove it though) - so granted she should have kept her mouth shut - she is 19 years old working as and admin/receptionist; when the president had her in his office and told her she was fired and that if she tried to get unemployment he wouldnt pay it and would sue her, he also called her dumb, stupid and a raving bitch, now he was very upset to the point of slamming his hand down on his desk while tell her all of this. The gave her paycheck to her and made her leave. IS he legally right to treat her this way?

There are no laws that prohibit the boss from being a jerk. His comments about preventing her from collecting UC benefits and suing her if she does are absolutely ludicrous however. The STATE determines who receives unemployment, not the employer and if the State awards benefits, he has no basis whatsoever to sue her. She should apply right away and then start looking for a new job where the boss isn't a raving lunatic.

By the way, your friend would have gotten fired pretty much anyplace for telling other employees there were going to be terminations. On her next job, she does indeed need to keep her mouth shut. She had no business disseminating that information (which may not even have been true.) I don't blame the boss for being angry, although his behavior when he terminated her is not acceptible.
