Ah -- loyalty! Companies like to use that word -- your disloyal, you lack loyalty to the company, etc. -- however, it seems nowadays to flow only one way - you to the company and not the company to you. Even though times have changed, a company still expects a reasonable amount of loyalty and this is still "on the books," so to speak. I think you are going to have to look this one up maybe in the Individual Employment Rights Manual under your state. I don't know if your local library would have BNA books or not. You might have to see if you can use your city's bar library, but they probably won't let you since you are not a member. Doesn't hurt to ask though. You could call your EEOC and see what they think, but your best bet would be to see an employment and labor lawyer.
