I live in California and would like to know the laws of what current or former employers can give out to perspective employers? My husband was trying to get a job with the Ca. State Corrections and his current employer gave the investigator false and damaging information which has now lead to him being denied getting a job with them. Does he have the right to sue for defamation? What can be done to stop this supervisor from doing it again with another perspective employer?
