What is the name of your state? IL

My mother in law past away and my wife has had difficulties coping with her last. I was by my wifes side in another state helping her through this difficult time. I notified my employer and was let go after 3 months for not returning back to work. My wife is still not stable what can I do?

Encourage your wife to get some professional counseling and you need to start looking for another job. If your employer extended a three month leave of absence to you, that is far more than they were required to do. They didn't have to offer you any leave time for this at all.
