I am from New York. In October I was laid off from my job they said because of cut backs because of September 11th. I later found out it was because they thought I was having an affair with one of the attorney's who worked for the company. They were told by another supervisor (who lets say we didn't like each other), they did not question me about the situation. Is this legal? Can they let somebody go because of a suspected affair (which did not happen) without proof?

 :(
