A member of the California Conservation Corps fire crew (working with CDF) was terminated along with the other members of his crew based on one crew member having been caught doing drugs.
The rational for firing all crew members was that they presumably knew of the guys drug use but didn't come forward thus endangering everyone involved.
Is this fair and/or legal to terminate someone for not telling an employer of another employee's drug use?
Isn't a jump to assume that all members of the fire crew would know of one crew member's private life??
Are there any legal grounds for thisl termination?
This is not unlike firing the whole police force because one cop was on the take??

yes because safety is the number one concern. It happens with teachers too.

I understand that safety is a main issue but my question is how would the other members of the crew know about one member's private drug use? And isn't termination for the entire crew a little radical? Some of these guys were planning a career with the CDF!
