Well, I had just started a NEW job with my CITY! It was going great, was in training for 2 weeks. Was top of my class in participation, scores, everything. Then today I walk in, volunteer to help set up for an office event, and as we finish setting a lot of stuff up, my supervisor walks over to me and ask me to follow him. We get into his office, and my staffing agency specialist is sitting in there as well. I know this isn't going to be good for some reason... and wow was my gut correct. First thing out of their mouths is , " we have been told by several people that you have been handing out drugs to others." I was just shocked, jaw dropped, and confused. I have never done such things at the job. I informed them that early the previous day I had asked for some asprin from a fellow trainee and that they handed me a aleve bottle and I got one, then handed it back to her. They said that the stories they were told were of prescription pills. I asked them if they had any proof of this, such as the pills or video evidence of such events. I also explained how I was confused that such things could be said and asked them more questions pretaining to the accusations.
They then said, "Well, due to these stories, we view you as a liability, and are letting you go." I was then just in even more shock. I asked how they could do such a thing without any warning. I told them to search myself, vehicle, and even submit me to a drug test to prove I was not doing such things, but sadly my pleas went nowhere.
I feel so wronged by this. That people there could just say something like that, and the management react so sharply, without any real thing to back it up, and not even give me a way to defend such claims. My performance in class was top notch, and their claims were without warrant and just based on "hearsay".
I was also told during the firing , from the supervisor ," That I know popping pills is popular with people in your age. " So it could also be an age discrimination factor in this as well.

A wrongful termination means you were fired for a reason prohibited by law, such as your race, religion, age, gender or disability. Firing people for things they didn't do isn't prohibited by law, and as a result, you haven't been wrongfully terminated.
