What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas
We've been in our home 7 years and have never missed a monthly payment or been late on a payment. Tried to make a claim on our insurance (first claim ever) for rotting wood/mold in kitchen cabinets and found out our mortgage/escrow did not renew our policy. The bank says they sent payment middle of June but the check never cleared. We've been without insurance since the middle of July. Now to get a new policy for the year our insurance will go from 1200 to 1600. What can I do to make sure we're covered and will not come out worse for having done everything we were suppose to do. It actually took us 3 days to even be able to speak with anyone in our bank's escrow department. Obviously, urgent to them means something different than it does us.

**A: delete the insurance from the bank's responsibility and pay directly.

Rotting wood and mold isn't covered anyway.

You should have received a renewal notice with the amount of the renewal premium. Once the bill wasn't paid, you should have received a cancellation notice stating that if the payment wasn't made in "x" days, your policy is going to be cancelled. Once you received that notice, who did you make phone calls to?
