Liability re Appliance DamageWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida. As a probable result of lightning damage to Florida Power and Light underground lines where the neutral line function was affected to 2 adjacent homes, would the power company be liable for an air conditioner compressor that was damaged to the extent that replacement was necessary? Or, should I directly proceed with an insurance claim? Thanks... |

| Power company is in no way liable. Put in the insurance claim and be prepared to pay your dedctable. |

| Thanks. Further inquiry supports your statements. Our insurance deductible is, however, too high to file a claim. |

| I thought so. In Fl I'm sure you have to hold the highest dedutable to keep your premium affordable... (loose term "affordable") $2500? Sorry about that! good day. ![]() |

| You should never carry a deductible that is higher then you can afford to pay... The entity responsible for the lightning storm which damaged your equipment is, unfortunately, beyond the reach of a civil suit.

| 2000, B-P. Agreed, ECMST12, thus the higher deductible. |
