Personal Umbrella Insurance

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

Since my parents live in my household, my insurance agent put my parents names into my personal umbrella insurance policy. My parents have auto insurance and rental properties that are covered also under our personal umbrella insurance. So, my parents' names as well as my huband and my names are all listed as "users" of the umbrella insurance.

Is it okay to have two families listed in the personal umbrella policy. My agent assured me it's okay, but I'm concerned that if something happens to my parents rental property or they get into an accident, would my personal umbrella insurance cover it?

if they are listed, and everything is listed what makes you think a valid claim would be denied?

why wouldn't you believe your agent. its there job to know what there talking about.

and the company wouldn't accept the policy if they wont accept a covered claim

I think it is always smart to seek second opinions on important matters. The agent could have made an error.

well yes, but the carrier and agent? sounds to me like the amended umbrella dec containing the changes the agent said was ok would be confirmation enough for me.

Which is why the agent has a primary E&O policy (and probably excess coverage as well)

....and they might have gotten that policy through AIG! I would rather make sure that the original policy was written correctly, then try to collect on someone elses E&O policy. No harm in asking questions.

Parent's auto accident I would expect to be covered, sure. But why would their BUSINESS properties be covered under a PERSONAL umbrella policy?
