What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? TN

While visiting my aunt's home our daughter was injured. A friend that was visiting my aunt had a big dog that knocked down my daughter and broke her collar bone. My aunt has homeowner's insurance but it has a cap of $10,000. Our daughter's injury is complicated and special prosthesis are needed. It may go over the cap limit.

We have no medical insurance except for TNcare and they refused to pay for the custom shoulder brace. Does the visiting dog owner have any liability and if so, how do we handle that? If the dog owner does not have insurance then where do we go for help?

Thanks in advance for any advice. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

The dog owners homeowners insurance should cover the dog, unless it was excluded. You may need to sue the dog owner if they are not willing to cooperate.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if the dog owner even has homeowners. I will try to get more info from my aunt as the owner was her friend.
