My friend is a victim of domestic, physical and mental abuse by her H1 Visa spouse. Her husband disappeared with her 6 month old baby 1 week ago. Her H4 expires 28th Dec. She has no family support. We as community are trying to help her to get her baby back and protection order. She does not want to return to India.
What are her choices to get immigration? Student visa is a choice but its expensive. She has a College degree and Associate degree in Education. She is miserable without her baby and Immigration is another issue.
Her husband applied for extension of his visa but not hers-- she was never asked to sign for it. Does it automatically extend hers as well?
Please advice us to help her appropriately. H1 sponsership has been capped till oct 2007, I was told. What all are her choices before she goes out of status.
