Hello, I have got a question about affidavit of support and how i go about getting it? my husband accept and sign the form back in 2008 and we are getting a divorce after horrible marriage and im not sure how to go about getting it? i did call uscis and they told me to go and read Instructions form on there website but it only told me how to file it.

I could really do with some money, right now im working part time at subway and im only make $7.50 and his working at the casino and his making $15per hour. I got my bills and student loan im trying to pay plus everything else and im finding it hard..hard as hell

The affidavit of support is not a way for you to seek spousal support as a result of your divorce. It is a contract between the person signing and the government, promising to reimburse the government should you as the beneficiary seek any means-tested public assistance.

If you want to seek spousal support as a result of your divorce, you need to consult with a family law attorney and see what you may be entitled to.
