What is the name of your state? Illinois; Chicago

Hello everyone,

I am au-pair on J1 visa.
My visa says that I'm subject to 212 (e) 2Y HRR.
I have applied for advisory opinion few months ago.
Since October, DoS's website states that I am not a subject and that finding letter has been sent on September 26.
I am worried still I since havent received the letter?
Should I worry or this is typical with US government?
What is the usual time for them to process letters?
My other question is related to adjustment of status.
My boyfriend is US citizen and we want to marry in December.
My J1 visa expires in February '06.
Could you advise on what should we do to do everything legally.
Do I need to wait for my letter?
Can we marry and apply for adjustment before it comes or no?
Can I quit as au-pair and when should I do that?

Thanks very much

Glorija

You need to get this letter in order to proceed with the filing of the adjustment of status on the basis of marriage although you can certainly marry at any point regardless of receiving such a letter.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or how I can be of further assistance to you in this matter.
