Hello
Being a us citizen, I will petition residence for my father.
My question is:
He is 64 years old. Would he get any social security or medicare benefits after becoming a resident?
(He has never worked here before)
Thank you very much for your help,
Maggie

No, he would not. You are signing the affidavit of support as part of the immigrant visa petition on his behalf, stating that you are going to support him, as may be necessary, which includes monthly support and medical payments, as necessary.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or if I may be of further assistance to you in this matter.

With the cost of medical, and everything else involved in supporting someone the average sponsor cannot afford it- so what happens then?
