change from F2B to F1 petition

my then LPR mother filed a petition on my behalf in january 1999. i was already 27 years old at that time so i fall under F2B category. now she became naturalized last October 2007 and i believed my petition is now automatically upgraded to F1 category. i also understand that in the Philippines the wait period under F1 category is longer than F2B. my questions are: did my mom made a wrong decsion for changing her status? is there another option for me to remain under the F2B category?
