What is the name of your state? CALIFORNIA

Hi.
My broyfriend got arrested on 496(a)PC, meaning receiving/concealing stolen property on his house.
He is a legal resident and someone told him that he may face deportation because it's a crime that immigration will not overlook.
So, does anyone know anything about it ? Does he really need to seek an imigration lawyer also besides the criminal lawyer ? There is a chance that he will be deported ?
Any help would be great.
Thanks.
