What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ - NY

I'm currently a permanent resident. Can my wife get a permanent resident? or do I have to be a citizen to do that?

Thanks

It is much faster for your wife to become a permanent resident if you are a US citizen (6-12 months). If, however, you apply for her as a permanent resident, the process will take about 5 years, during which time she is not authorized to be in the US and she cannot work. She would be in the US unlawfully and subject to removal (deportation)
