Please help : F1 to H1b transfer and need stamping for F1

What is the name of your state? GA

Hello,
I am currently on F1 visa working on my doctoral degree. My Visa has expired but I 20 is valid that means whenever I step outside the country I have to get my visa stampped again.

Now I have job offer based on my undergraduate degree and not my doctoral degree and employer(s) are applying for my H1B visa in April 2008 for work to start from Oct 2008. The problem is that my I 20 is expiring in Aug 2008. Also I am not sure I will have graduated graduated by Aug. I might finish all my work but I still can not graudate by aug (Sum sem). That means I will graduate in Dec 2008 (Fall sem).

Moreover, I need to go to attend my brothers wedding sometime before Dec 2008 mostly in July-Aug 2008.

I am thinking that I should apply for the extension of I20 till dec or so but then I have sent my current I 20 for H1B filing. So it would not be current if I get extension now.

The question is
1. Is it going to be problem if i apply for extension of I20 before or after H1B filing?

2. Can I or should I travel to my country on my F1 status (extended till dec or not) if my H1B is approved for my brothers wedding? Would there is any problem for my F1 visa stamping?

Any help would be of great help.

Thank you in advance
