Green card and Visa Question

Can a sponsor of an immigrant prevent them from getting their green card if they have already recieved their visa, moved countries and have already signed the affidavit of support? My girlfriend recently received her visa and is now living in the US as per the visa. Shes is awaiting her green card and her sponsor has already signed the affidavit of support. My only question here is, is there any way the sponsor can prevent her form receiving her green card or is she in the clear? Any and all help is welcome, thank you very much!
