What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

How long does it normally take for someone to get their work permit? My wife and kids should be coming to the States late this year and she wants to work. Once she is settled down, she want to help by getting a part time job. How long from the time she arrives does it take before she can legally work in the country? This process is new to me. I think my wife will come here by K-3 or CR-1 visa. My children were born overseas but are recognized as U.S. citizens, they have their U.S. Passports and should be getting their social security numbers very soon.

Once she gets here, she can literally file on the same day for her EAD. I-765 is the correct form. The timeline does vary somewhat - 90 days is about average.
