    I-551 Green card renewal

What is the name of your state? CA

Hi, a friend of mine from Philippines was sponsored by his US Citizen wife. They got married around 17 years ago but got his green card only 10 years ago and it's expiring soon. They love each other very much. However, when the man got married to his US-citizen wife here in US, he had a civil marriage to another woman in the Philippines around 2 to 3 years back at that time. He was young during those times and thought that the civil marriage was not binding. Since he got his green card without a problem, will there be any consequences in renewing it? If there's none, what about if he apply for citizenship, will there be any problem? Thanks.

He has obtained his permanent residence through false pretenses in a way since he was legally married (and still is) and, therefore, the current marriage really should not be valid. Did he disclose on his original application that he was still married or had been married?
    Thanks,
    Lana
