What is the name of your state? Wisconsin

My friend's ex-boyfriend who she has a child( age 8) from (never married)
Is from Cuba and has been in the USA for more then twenty years
He also has two other children(ages 10,12) and has full custody of them
I dont actually know how he entered the USA or does she
Just recently he went to renew his driver's licence and he was told it wasnt valid
and he needed to contact immigration. Yet he has been working in the USA all this time and filing income taxes. He never went thru the process of filing for a work permit etc.etc.
He has no family living here ,that can help him obtain his green card or never married
He states if, he is deported his country will kill him can that be even true???
What are his chances of him hiring an immigration lawyer?
Would it be a waste of money?
Or can he file papers himself to obtain a work permit, and green card?
Even after all these years is he still consirdered a illegal alien?
What about the minor children living with him will the INS see differently because of them?
Will the DNV report him because of his invalid social security number?
what are his chances to remain living in the USA?

Sure, people can be illegal aliens for years and years and years.
His children can't peition him to stay here until they are 21 years old.

His chances for legal residency look very slim, but since he is Cuban, there may be a special circumstance that applies to him.

He should absolutely see/speak with a lawyer who is familiar with Cuban Adjustment cases.
