What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? FL

Not sure if this is the right forum...

A friend of mine got arrested for grand theft 3rd degree and dealing with stolen goods about 5 days ago. There's an immigration hold on him. He is from England and his greencard is expiring in 3 weeks. He also was charged with possession and tampering of evidence a couple years ago. He apparently will be taken to Miami by ICE in 3 weeks. Another friend is talking about bailing him out next week. Can he be bailed out?

Thanks.

Apparently, posting bail/bond on a criminal offense when there is an immigration hold is ineffective. Your friend will have to appear before an ICE officer for an interview to determine whether or not bail/bond can be granted based on the circumstances. ICE will consider the seriousness of the charges and whether or not they might warrant deportation, and his past criminal history when determining whether or not to grant bail/bond.

He needs to get himself a good attorney that deals with immigration law.

Screw that. Send him back to England so he can do his crimes there. We have enough of our own criminals to deal with. We don't need imported ones.
