J-1 visa extension while waiting for the H-1B1 visa

Would it be possible to request an extension of the J-1 visa while awaiting for the H-1B1 visa given that the 2yr HRR waiver has been granted?
My J-1 visa DS-2019 document expires at the end of February and it appears that the H-1B1 visa process will last one or two months beyond February.

Once you have the waiver you can not extend the J-1. Once the DS2019 expires, you just have to wait for the H-1B to be approved. You can not work during this time period. If that is not an option for you, then you could submit a request for premium processing and $1000, for them to adjudicate your H-1B petition within 15 days.
