Minnesota.
My mother married an American when I was at a very young age and I became naturalized at a very young age as well. The problem is, I have lost that certificate when the Marines didn't give it back when I signed up around ten years ago. I rejoined the National Guard recently and the only proof I needed to give them was that I was adopted at a young age. Apparently I didn't need paperwork because I was adopted before a certain year. However I still don't have proof of citizenship or a passport and would like to acquire one. Filling out the form for a replacement Naturalization Certificate Replacement, I seem to need three things which I do not have ... a certificate number, A-number, and USCIS Office/Court of where it was issued.
My question is, is there somewhere I can go to that would have the information I need or any records of my naturalization? Does anyone know of the law that states that I didn't need any documentation and that I automatically became a US citizen when I was adopted before a certain year? ... perhaps I could use that information to apply for a passport. I have the adoption records and my Dad's passport.
Much thanks for any help!
