What is the name of your state? MD
A neighbor of mine has been pestering me to help him get a green card for a couple of weeks now. He has been leaving notes asking for assistance on my door, and has approached me on occasion asking me to help him. He hasn't outright asked me to help him find a job or to marry him, but in a roundabout way he has. He left a rather lengthy letter on my door this evening, and in his letter he kept stressing the fact that I am a natural-born citizen who could help him get a green card. In another letter he left for me, he asked me out for drinks so that he could get to know me "socially". (I know how to read between the lines here). This person came here from Ghana (by way of England) on a work visa, which has since expired, I have learned. He has an MBA, but hasn't been able to keep a job. Another neighbor informed me that he got into some legal trouble on one of his last jobs.
My question is: other than ignoring him, what should I do? Should I report him and/or the person he is staying with? I am afraid that now that I have letters from him asking for help that if something should happen, I may be drawn into whatever legal or criminal case that could ensue. After all, he has communicated to me on several occasions about his status.
Please excuse my ignorance on this issue. I have never had anything like this happen before, and I feel that I must do something to protect myself, if nothing else.
Thanks. What is the name of your state?
