I just heard about PERM. How does it work and how long does it take? I'm on an H1-B and want to negotiate a green card with my company in New York.

The USCIS site as always doesn't provide useful information on PERM.

PERM is not administered by USCIS but by DOL that is why you cannot find information about it from USCIS. It's the new way of getting labor certification. It can take anywhere from 4-12 months these days.
