Hi,

Is it OK if the place of birth in the passport is different from the place of birth in the birth certificate? The place of birth listed in the birth certificate is a very small place. Hence when applying for the passport a neighboring identifiable and well-known place was mentioned. Will this cause any problems? If so, what are the solutions?

Thanks.

You may have to explain that discrepancy through an affidavit.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or how I can be of further assistance to you in this matter.

It needs to state exactly those things you explained, about why the place of birth listed is one on the birth certificate and another on the passport.
