Question

Stolen Green Card And Social Card!

What is the name of your state? CA

My car was broken into while i was in Walmart. They busted the passenger side window, and took only my backpack. Which contain a lot of stuff. My School books and school material.
Also my Job search folder which contains Resumes, job application, References, etc.
What was also in that folder was my Resident Alien card and Social security card. I was preparing to go show the Job agency documents to verify that i was able to work legally so i can start working the next day.
I do not have a birth certificate, nor a passport.
i just have my I. D. card.
My question is, What other documentation can i use for employment? or
Do i have to renew my resident card right away?
But i don't have the money to pay for the I-9 form till next week.
What should i do in this case? i really do not want to pass this job up.

Q1: Did you report this to the local law enforcement? Slim chance you'll be able to get your stuff back, but you should still report it. WalMart apparently has security cameras all over their parking lots, so they might be able to identify who did it.

Q2: Why do you not have a passport? You must be a citizen somewhere, right?

Yes, you need to file form I-90 asap. This will cost you $260, but you are required to file it, since you need to be in possession of your PR Card at all times.

Do you still have your receipt notice that your greencard was attached to? Perhaps your new employer will be understanding when you show them either that receipt notice or a copy of the police report, or both. (When you get the job, your employer should give you form I-9 to sign. That form is for your employer, not for you)

Explain your situation and ask whether you can show proof of employment authorization at a later date. Then apply for the new green card as soon as possible.
